PhotoCORMs Move to the Red Light District
In collaboration with the group of Dr Ruggi a series of photo activated CO releasing molecules (photoCORMs) with absorptions in the red light portion of the visible spectrum were recently published by our group. The realization of CO releasing molecules triggered by light within the phototherapeutic window (l > 600 nm) constitutes an important goal for the potential therapeutic applications of the molecules. In particular, the activation of photoCORMs with red/NIR light will enable to exploit the higher depth of penetration of this radiation with respect to higher energy photons.
