Not Yet at Heart of the Matter

First generation cardiolite inspired CORMs failed in several aspects. The molecules were designed to specifically deliver carbon monoxide to heart tissues, but the p-acidity of the ancillary ligands prevented CO release and the molecules were found to be toxic. A hard lesson learned, but one which has provided fundamental insights for the future development of the species. Read more about it here.
